Music Tidbits !!

august 25th, 2008 HOLLYWOOD - ABC’s Good Morning America announced the lineup for the upcoming seventh season of Dancing with the Stars Monday morning, and here’s how it breaks down: four actors, three athletes, two singers, one chef, one comedian, one model/TV host and one…Kim Kardashian.

Among the more recognizable names set for the hit reality competition series, which premieres Sept. 22, are Emmy winner Susan Lucci, former ‘N Sync member Lance Bass, and Grammy winner Toni Braxton, who has made headlines in recent months due to undisclosed health problems and trips to the hospital.

Braxton won’t be the only celeb facing questions about her fitness to foxtrot, however: Kardashian, star of the E! reality show Keeping Up with the Kardashians, was hospitalized briefly on Sunday after cutting her foot on a glass table. But she was quick to tell GMA on Monday that she “will be fine” and “able to dance.” Aw, shucks!

The three athletes who will take to the dance floor are Misty May-Treanor, who will be less than a month removed from taking home gold at the Beijing Olympics, recently retired NFL player Warren Sapp, following in the footsteps of fellow football player Jason Taylor on last season’s DWTS, and world-record-holding runner Maurice Greene.

Rounding out the ‘stars’ are renowned chef Rocco DiSpirito, former host of Rock Star host Brooke Burke, Hannah Montana’s Cody Linley, former Married with Children star Ted McGinley (Jefferson!), and Cloris Leachman and Jeffrey Ross, both of whom are fresh off the Roast of Bob Saget--and taking some shots at each other.
Wednesday July 16, 2008- Rolling Stone Ron Wood has returned to a rehab center in his long-standing battle with alcoholism.

A rep for the musician said in a statement: "Following Ronnie's continued battle with alcohol, he has entered a period of rehab. His close family and friends say he is seeking help and look forward to his recovery."

The guitarist, 61, left Ireland on Tuesday where he had reportedly been holed up on a drinking binge with 19-year-old Russian waitress, Ekaterina Ivanova, and is believed to have headed straight to a rehab clinic.

Immediately prior to the rock star's entering rehab, a friend of the Wood family told PEOPLE: "He's drinking two bottles of vodka a day and is obviously on some kind of bender, hanging out with this girl."

Asked whether there was an affair with Ivanova, the source said that it was Wood's sobriety that his friends and family are dealing with in the short term.

"He's had a reputation as a hell-raiser and a drunk, but never a philanderer," the friend added.

Wood last checked himself into a rehab facility last month, just days before his daughter Leah Wood's wedding.
Courtney Love
HOLLYWOOD - Rocker Courtney Love has turned to TV hypnotist Paul McKenna to help her stay thin.

The former front woman of punk rock band Hole,
Love called upon the British therapist to keep her weight down after going on a crash diet last year.

She says, "I've known Paul for years. I lost weight last year the old-fashioned way by dieting and living off protein shakes. But it was hard to stay disciplined. He's brilliant and is totally responsible for me staying so skinny. Whenever I start to feel my resolve weaken, I go to Paul for another hypnosis session."
2007 - Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea has lost his home in the latest fires to hit Los Angeles.

The rocker's $5 million French-style mansion was burned down in the wildfires that began on Saturday, the second series of blazes to hit the region in less than a month.

Flea--real name Michael Balzary -confirmed the loss by sending local newspaper the Los Angeles Times a text message saying his home had "burnt to a crisp."

Following the weekend's fires, California Governor Arnold Schwarznegger
has reactivated the state of emergency he declared last month and vowed to make aid available to those affected by the infernos

Big Fight

The Killers are picking fights with everybody

Since going platinum, the band (and principally vocalist and keyboardist Brandon Flowers) has incited a few rivalries - most notably with The Bravery and Fall Out Boy, who are both labelmates (Island Records). Flowers has said that these bands, especially The Bravery, are riding on the coattails of the success of The Killers. Additionally, in an article of NME, Flowers claimed Fall Out Boy was hogging the A&R man both bands share, setting off Fall Out Boy's bassist Pete Wentz. However, after Wentz made a couple of rants on his blog in September of 2005, he offered a virtual cease-fire. Flowers has since apologized to The Bravery, Fall Out Boy, and Panic! at the Disco, saying "I'd like to take it all back - these people are just doing what they want to do, just like I am," and said that he was "not proud of" his occasional jealousy.
